It is that time again - a summer window filled with signings and the accompanying benchmarking analysis! I fear the squad rebuild may cause me to develop carpal tunnel, but we push on…with a quick reminder on the goal and intent for this exercise laid out here.

Camilo Duran is the first victim for the 2026-2027 season, so let us dive right in:

For the first 3 graphics, I included Duran’s teammate a 2nd striker for Qarabag during the 2025-2026 season. This is done to contextualize rather than directly compare.

Part of this exercise is to try and tease out team/competitive-level dynamics versus potential idiosyncratic player-level ones, and we see here that strikers playing at Qarabag are generally going to benchmark highly in attacking metrics. While specifics are obviously quite different, like Celtic, Qarabag have been the dominant force in Azerbaijan in recent seasons.
