Carter-Vickers, Scales, and Trusty too
The end-of-season review bus stops at centre-back ville.
We saw fleeting appearances from Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh and Dane Murray, but the 2024-25 season’s central defensive soap opera was a three-hander.
Creaking slightly due to recurring injury, Cameron Carter-Vickers mainly held down the right-sided berth, completing the equivalent of 42.23 appearances. File that one under character development. The left side was where the juicier drama emerged. Loveable lunk Liam Scales (31.72 equivalent 90 minutes) saw off another high-priced prince usurper in Auston Trusty (33.86 equivalent 90 minutes). Swoon.
