Celtic 1, St Mirren 1 - May 17th, 2025

Probably a useful settler before the Cup Final. A memorable day for one veteran winger.

Trophy Day saw an opponent with plenty to play for set out as they have done all season, competently, and determined to make life awkward for the Champions.

An insipid, slow, flat performance is not the worst thing to happen in the week before the Cup Final. Training should be quite spicy this week as the substitutes here have made a point.

Perhaps the loudest cheer was when one of them, James Forrest, equalised in the 94th minute (or Hemming time) to equal the achievements of Paul McStay and Jimmy McGrory by scoring in 16 consecutive seasons. Will he surpass Bobby Lennox (17) and Jimmy McMenemy (18)?

Bhoy of the Match was not a sentimental choice, although at half time I would have been hard pushed to award it to anyone.

Your last full league stats of the season are therein. During the Summer, there will be plenty of additional analysis pieces instead.

Cup Final match pack to come - remember you won’t find that anywhere else as regards the data, so please subscribe.
