Falkirk could not replicate their progressive performance in last season’s competition as Celtic ground down the Bairns with a much-changed line-up.

Viljani Sinisalo came in, hopefully to be the designated “Cup keeper” and had three saves to make, although only one was onerous.

Scott Bain made five as he fended off an aggressive Celtic attack.
