Dundee United 2, Celtic 1 - 17th December, 2025
More failings to defend chaos ball, more resilience failures, and yet.....
Four defeats in a row are a rarity at Celtic, such has been domestic dominance for most of this century.
Who would have thought that setting fire to the season in October on the back of a terrible summer of recruitment, then parachuting a new manager into the period of greatest fixture congestion would be troubling?
The latest reverse, on the back of an irredeemably bad showing at Hampden Park, was galling in the extreme. That “ass burning” Wilfried Nancy referred to is those variance monsters yom yoming away at his rear like there is no tomorrow.
And there may not be a tomorrow if these outcomes continue.
Despite this, the performance-based Speedboat League shows Celtic actually have increased their expected points lead over the last two weeks. Football is very funny.
Though Nancy won’t be laughing at the lack of resilience shown by his team, as promising attacking patterns dissipate amongst fatigue and confidence failure.
Making them believe and buy in is his greatest challenge. There are no more tomorrows if that does not happen, despite the promising periods of play.
He is making adjustments game by game, assessing who is up to what job. One of those operating closer to his sweet spot is Bhoy of the Match.
