My sense of urgency on the need for Brendan Rodgers to make a material shift in tactics is central to this analysis.
As Alan aptly chronicled, Celtic have struggled to create chances so far this season. Along with set pieces, improving that aspect of play may be vital in Celtic’s aspirations to win domestic trophies, as well as revive the Europa League campaign.
While possession has remained dominant so far this season at around 70%, the warning signs were present last season regarding systemic factors, in my opinion. While the first season in Rodgers 2.0 continued the directional trend towards more forward passing that occurred under Ange, 2024-2025 and the current season have seen a reversal.
