Extracting signal from noise is what analytics is all about, really. Some parts of systems being analyzed are easily measured, others less so, and some impossible. Sometimes linear regression methodologies can provide clarifying information, other times compounding noisy data with false conclusions.
Orderly linear systems are typically easier to analyze, where as complex systems in some degree of disorder/chaos can be exceptionally difficult.

The setup, or initial condition, for this season became evident to me starting in February 2025. While the specifics were different, I saw a similarly perilous setup in spring 2020 heading into the 10-in-a-row season.
