Does anyone know what the current data analytics set up is at Celtic?

Hello James- have heard they were early adopters of Statsbomb data (which launched for 2018-2019 season) and Ted Knutsen confirmed that when he was our guest.

Had also heard that they had licensed Zone 7ai before the 2021-2022 season but do not know for hoe long or if they still have it. Given the rash of soft tissue injuries, suspect they have either stopper or not using properly.

From a staff perspective, there are some people with some relevant experience in data science but not aware of any STEM or Wall St related people driving the department- i.e. higher level intellects with backgrounds in fields like mathematics, physics, engineering, etc.

If The Board, or more importantly DD are not going to modernise the structure, eg Director of Football, Head Coach, Head of Recruitment etc, then bringing in either Knutsen or Nancy doesn't move us forwards. Unless we modernise the structure, in 2/3 yrs time if/when the new appointment leaves, we'll go through this again...and again...and again.

I’m going to sound very defeatist here but we are in the position where any person who accepts this job de facto does not have the skills and strength of character to do what’s actually needed.

Meaningful progress in Europe is the bar for any new manager and the associated structure that sits behind them. Starting with not continually losing to teams with significantly less resource which has been going on through DDs tenure.

This is probably the most important appointment we have made for decades.

The Board can brush off the fans no problem, but they can’t outrun the coefficient.

This could turn out to be an inspired choice, with the added bonus of him having comprehensive scouting knowledge of the Americas. Maybe we could even see some under-the-radar superstars joining in January (the American off-season).

He comes across as a very confident and charasmatic guy, and his record of improving players is very impressive. I really hope we can welcome him to Paradise, it would be a very exciting appointment. Let the Nancy-ball revolution begin.
