A bit of McInnes spiciness on a cold winter's night. Yum.

Another fascinating weekend of SPFL football.

We all know now that the real league table does not lie. Because national treasure Derek McInnes told us so! Has he ever even met Tony Bloom, or spoken to him?

Bloom made a fortune recognising that the league table DOES lie and actual outcomes in such a low-scoring and luck-driven sport are poor predictors of future performance/outcomes.

I’m not sure he is really with the programme here. The all-seeing eye of Jamestown Analytics will be all over that.

This weekend further revealed that McInnes is a thin-skinned wee soul. No harm in that, it’s a very human trait. But at the top end of elite sport? Derek, love, it’s only just December! There is no pressure, yet!

Another counter-intuitive weekend, then. Meaning success on the pitch was not necessarily reflective of actual performances. And Celtic were big beneficiaries of positive variance (thank you, Herr Sallinger). And others were slightly better than their outcomes might suggest.
