The “if only you got what you deserved” league is shaping up into the top and bottom sixes, along the lines of the actual table.

But with significant differences.

You would be right to think that it is better to have points banked and to hell with how variance has assisted that. Points in the bank are more valuable, always.

But had the league campaign played out as the underlying performance metrics suggest, it would be quite different at the top.

Are Celtic right to have faith in Wilfried Nancy because of this? (To rack up 3 xG (hudlstatsbomb’s estimate) and not win is unusual).

Were Kilmarnock right to make a managerial change? The underlying numbers suggest perhaps so.
