The number of match days lost to injury rose 168% last season. Yet, this still wasn’t the most injury hit campaign on record. That was in 2018-19 as Brendan Rodgers’s history of stressing squads reached term three.
The departed Irishman seemed to have learned from his casino approach to player welfare upon returning to Celtic, yet this season it was almost a case of bringing out your dead as the mean streets of Scottish football, not renowned for being packed with goodfellas, took its toll.
