This is turning into a fractious season off the field, and a bit of a slog on the field owing to the failure to replace departed attacking talent adequately. It doesn’t feel like this Celtic is the best version of itself.

Which is a shame, as the general landscape of Scottish football has rarely been as eventful. The Bloomin’ Hearts, The Black Knight Hibs, the heavily backed Aberdeen, the stylish football of Motherwell and Falkirk (and, heh!, Livingston), the resurgence of Kilmarnock, and the trials and tribulations from Andrew and the Slum Landlords at Ibrox.

Perhaps the brightest light for Celtic has been the early form of new Tunisian left-sided attacker Sebastian Tounekti. Awkward name and awkward to shift off the ball. This is a very good piece if you want to get to know the man better.

We are only the equivalent of 4.98 matches into his career at Celtic, so halfway to the magic 900 minutes. But already there are clear signals in the data regarding what we are going to get.
