In this week’s Huddle Breakdown, James and Alan analyse Celtic’s crucial 3–2 win against Motherwell — a much-needed bounce-back after European disappointment.
I know you don't officially do content/deep dive requests, but as a recent Motherwell enjoyer, I'd be curious for your views about why Askou's passing game is so much more fluid to watch than Rodgers'. To my untrained eye it looks like Motherwell players move around to form triangles/squares a lot more, which creates more options to pass or run forward because defenders are forced to hedge/guess, while Celtic overrelies on trying to bait presses in fixed patterns and get stuck.
Obviously this is a Celtic podcast, but Rodgers' system has been under scrutiny + frustrated people for awhile and I think Motherwell's rise is an interesting case study for comparison.
Enjoyed the episode.
